iBECOME (“intelligent Building Energy Assets Control for Comfort, Energy and Flexibility Optimisation) is a €3’724’497,00 investment through the EU Horizon 2020 Programme running from 2020-2024. The project is made up of a consortium of 10 partners representing 4 EU countries: Ireland, Italy, France, and UK.
The platform sets out to address the inefficiencies of existing buildings and facilities through a novel cloud-based solution. It plans to demonstrate the functionality and viability (technical and economical) of a virtual BMS platform deployed as a ‘Software as a Solution’ (SaaS) solution that can optimise the energy performance, comfort conditions and flexibility potential of buildings and facilities while allowing 3rd parties to interconnect for providing other energy or non-energy related services.

iBECOME will also look to unlock the next stage of energy efficiency by enabling deep building renovation and measurement & verification (M&V) in novel business models. The virtual BMS will utilise a calibrated physics-based simulation model to allow accurate predictive control for energy and comfort optimisation, flexibility maximisation and precise M&V for both implemented Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and Demand Response (DR).
In short, iBECOME will encompass a simple, high level framework for measuring and/or calculating specific metrics that affect wellness and productivity and according to the most up-to-date research will project those metrics into accountable, monetizable value of productivity and asset value increase.
