Work Packages Update – Month 36 – 42

Below is an update on activity in the work packages of the iBECOME project between month 36 to 42.

WP4 – Demonstration in Operational Efficiency

Key achievements:

  • Completion of ICT hardware installation at Country Crest and Helix Building.
  • Ongoing calibration of virtual environment models to enhance accuracy with the influx of more data.
  • Identification of each use case demonstration and establishment of baselines for the majority.
  • Deployment of a version of the PdM battery algorithm at both Helix and Country Crest sites.
  • Deployment of the FDD algorithm at the Helix site.
  • Creation of several end-user dashboards for pilot sites at both Helix and Country Crest.

Next steps

  • Address all outstanding ICT hardware issues promptly.
  • Roll out remaining services across both sites.
  • Define ‘what if’ scenarios for the Country Crest site.
  • Develop testing protocols and establish monitoring procedures through the platform.
  • Conduct testing of identified use cases and assess Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

WP5 – Demonstration in Retrofits

Key achievements:

  • World Trade Center – WTC (Grenoble, France)
  • Deployment of additional hardware components and successful operation of data collection between the Building Management System (BMS) and iSCAN platform for the demo building.
    • Deployment of the first version of the Energy & Comfort optimization algorithm during the summer/winter seasons.
    • Initiation of training for FDD and PdM algorithms.
  • ASP Della Carnia (Udine, Italy)
  • Preparatory work conducted by CIVIESCO, including technical visits, finalization of design, and commencement of installation work. Due to new constraints, a decision was made to change the demo building for ASP. Consequently, a new ICT design has been defined for the ASP Venzone demo.

Definition of all use cases with partners responsible for service development for both the WTC and ASP demos.

Next Steps

  • Circulate surveys to capture winter conditions with Energy & Comfort optimization at the WTC.
  • Share surveys with ASP director to capture winter conditions at ASP Venzone.
  • Finalize the building model recalibration process for WTC.
  • Complete the building model for the ASP Venzone demo.
  • Install additional hardware and ensure operational data collection for ASP Venzone.
  • Fully deploy all services on WTC and ASP Venzone demos.
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of business model scenarios for both WTC and ASP Venzone demos.

WP6 – Business model development

Key achievements:

  • Drafting of templates for innovative Agile and Enhanced Energy Performance Contracts, encompassing all essential clauses for implementing iBECOME services as energy efficiency measures within the Software as a Service (SaaS) business model.
  • Design of the Enhanced EPC solution utilizing digital twins to mitigate risks from both technical and financial perspectives, including a service for assessing various renovation scenarios and a robust Measuring & Verification (M&V) process.
  • Provision of the first version of a tool for bankability and risk assessment of complex projects by R2M, considering diverse financial, geographical, and technical criteria affecting decision-making.
  • Development of the Business Modeling tool to test different scenarios of iBECOME SaaS implementation, assessing how various boundary conditions may impact the combination and viability of services.

Next steps:

  • Finalize templates for Agile and Enhanced EPC schemes and contractual arrangements for third-party services.
  • Validate the Business Modeling tool using data and costs from iBECOME pilots.
