iBECOME at Sustainable Places 2023

Sustainable Places features topics that are shaping how we think about cities and the built environment. The event is open to all topics related to building sustainability and most often reflect priorities described in the European Commission Societal Challenges and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference prides itself on being an ideal platform for the dissemination of research, the conduct of workshops, EU project clustering and networking between stakeholders of all types. SP2023 will be held over three days in a hybrid (digital + in-person) event format.

iBECOME will have two types of activity at the event this year.

Workshop

Dimitrios Ntimos (IES) will feature in the workshop “ IoT-enabled Digital Twins and building management systems: how innovative ICT services might contribute to the spread of smart buildings technologies” with other EU funded projects Auto-DAN, STEPUP and ESHER.

This will focus on leveraging IoT-enabled Digital Twins to enable informed retrofit decisions and allowing smart energy and comfort optimization services with the purpose of reducing the energy bills, making buildings grid-interactive and contribute towards decarbonising the building stock. An overview of the ICT solutions proposed as well as vital insights of real-life scenarios will be presented.

Presentation

Dimitrios Ntimos will also participate in the “Building Energy Performance” paper session presenting “Improving the energy performance of an office building with a virtual building management system”, explaining the work done so far in the Helix Building demo site. There is still time to register virtually for the conference, visit the website https://www.sustainableplaces.eu/ and make sure to check out the iBECOME activity.
